Medicare and Medicaid Data Hampering Addiction Research

The root of the issue can be directed at the Department of Health and Human Services, when in 2013, decided to restrict and limit access to various Medicare and Medicaid data. Their reasoning lies with the concealment of private, individual patient data. In totality, this stance is understandable and should earn respect for the sake of privacy. However, the Department of Health and Human Services should allow and invite progressive research, especially in the scope of addiction and substance-abuse.
