Sea Anemone Drug

A Seattle, WA, based biotech company, Kineta Inc, is currently developing a drug derived from
the venom of a sea anemone to treat autoimmune diseases. These diseases cause your immune system to mistakenly attack healthy cells in your body, causing inflammation and redness with possible flare-ups. Phase 1 of the clinical trail proved hopeful, as they expect to be recruiting patients early next year for phase 2. The drug, dalazatide, intends to block the actions of white blood cells that often cause autoimmune diseases, compared to most current market treatments such as corticosteroids, which suppress the entire immune systems.
