Ross Ulbricht, creator of the black market dealing space, Silk Road, was sentenced this Friday to two life terms in prison after he made a tearful plea for leniency. Silk Road is the world’s largest online narcotics website, allowing users to anonymously buy and sell drugs. Ulbricht, 31, was also ordered to forfeit $184 million dollars, as the website was estimated that roughly $1.2 billion in illegal drug transactions took place before it was shut down in 2013. U.S. District Judge Katherine B. Forrest proved she wanted to make an example out of Ulbricht, in hopes to deter others from engaging similar crimes. Read more about it [here] .
